Literature Workshop

Quetzaltenango, August 6, 2009. The Literature Workshop taught by Julio E. Batres, to Casa Xelaju's faculty from July 5 to August 6, 2009 was a complete success. The main purpose of the workshop was to train the teachers who work in this field to apply their knowledge of literary theories, literary analysis, and literary terminology in the classroom.

With this knowledge, Casa Xelaju's teachers will be able to help our future students to read, write, understand literary works in the three main genres: narrative, poetry and theater. In addition, the teachers will be able to discuss with their current and future students how to identify topics related to literary structure, including plots, images, metaphors, and allegories, among others.

As a result of this workshop, Casa Xelaju has created four new university-level literature classes:
Introduction to Hispanic literature I
Introduction to Hispanic literature II
Introduction to Latin American Literature
Spanish Culture and Civilization.
