Course description:
Intensive Spanish for Educators is specifically
designed to give teachers, principals, social workers, counselors
and other personnel working in a school or district, the
ability to better communicate with Latino students and their
families in Spanish. Focus is put, not only on the language aspect,
but upon creating a better cultural understanding of Latino students
and their families living in the United States. In addition to
learning academic Spanish, educators will learn popular expressions
used by their students and families. Opportunities to visit
schools in rural and urban settings will also be included in the
experience.
We are aware that learning Spanish in the
United States can be difficult with the heavy workload that
most school personnel carry. With a total immersion approach,
this learning process can be accelerated as well as enlightening
as you experience the Spanish culture firsthand.
Visiting a foreign country
to study its language can be an overwhelming experience for
even the most seasoned traveller. However, when the school you
attend is Casa Xelajú, all of your fears and worries
seem to go away. Casa Xelajú is a superior Spanish school.
Its faculty and staff make your stay comfortable, your language
learning fun and the school has a genuine interest in your assimilation
into the language and culture of its country.

Student Testimony:
My 3 weeks in Guatemala studying at Casa Xelaju were remarkable! The curriculum for my studies was taylored specifically for ME. My instructor was amazing and made sure that I got everything I wanted (and needed) out of my time in and out of class. The school arranged for wonderful speakers for us as well as great "field trips" to schools, volcano craters, ruins, water parks, etc. And I can't say enough fantastic things about the family that Casa Xelaju found for me to live with! I would recommend this experience to anyone!!
